related to women, infants and children. A registered
dietician/nutritionist provides nutrition education based on identified risk
factors and develops nutritional interventions to improve health status.
WIC aides can explain eligibility criteria for the program and the services the
program provides. They can make referral to various other programs such as
Highline Help for Abused Spouses and the Miami/Follow Me program, Medicaid, and
the Food Stamp program. They issue WIC food vouchers to participants and
are helpful in resolving complaints from clients and vendors.
Miami/Home Visit Program
This program provides health promotion
services for pregnant women and children from birth to 5 years of age who are at
risk for health problems. A home visiting nurse assesses health concerns, growth
and development and refers families to services, therapies and other health care
services available in the community. Montana is concerned and has taken
action and set goals for healthier mothers and babies and the prevention of low
birth weight, prematurity and infant mortality.
